The beginnings of Social Services of Amravati Dioceses

The Catholic Mission Diocese of Amravati was carved out of the Archdiocese of Nagpur and was made a separate Ecclesiastical Entity in the year 1955. Ever since its creation, the Mission Diocese of Amravati started numerous Institutions – Parishes, Schools, Health Centers & Dispensaries, Hostels of poor children, orphanages, Vocational Training Centers, Social Work Centers, etc. Down through the years these Institutions proved to be “Service and Care giving Centers” for millions of people of the geographical area covered by the 5 Civil Districts of Amaravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal and Washim in the Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra.
